Welcome to our Leadership Program!
Our supplementary provision (which takes place in the form of a Saturday school) focuses on developing leadership skills for our Young People through a variety of engaging activities. We aim to strengthen the 12 key traits of leadership, preparing our participants to excel in various aspects of their lives.
Our program offers a diverse range of experiences, including workshops from a wide range of black specialist guest speakers, educational trips, residential experiences, debates, motivational workshops , PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic education), visits to employers, presentation skills development, and discipline exercises. Additionally, we provide mentoring and therapeutic support to ensure holistic development.
At YLA, we believe in nurturing leadership potential in every Young Leader. Our induction process marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards personal growth, empowerment, and leadership excellence.
Enrolment in the leadership programme takes place each half term. If you make an enquiry during the school term, your induction process will start after the next school break.
We will then reach out to you with details of the next Parents University (PU) session. This is either in-person or online (we specify at the time of communicating the session date). The PU is a mandatory session, and informs you of the curriculum for the upcoming term, informs you of key dates, and lets you know what you can expect from the Academy for your Young Leader.
Once you've attended PU, you will receive an invitation to join us for an on-site induction session. During this session, we kindly request that you stay with your child for the first session to familiarize yourself with our environment and meet our team.
Once you have attended that, you and your Young Leader will be invited to an induction session.
After the initial session, you will complete a registration form, providing us with essential information to ensure your child's safety and tailor our program to their needs. Following registration, your child will attend sessions independently from the next week onwards. This fosters independence and allows them to fully engage with our program.
